African Grebo War Mask 42

This hand carved wooden mask, from the Grebo people of Mali and Burkina Faso, measures 18.25 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. The large tubular protuberances are eyes, intended to frighten the enemy in battle. The eye is believed to hold such power, that it is common to see eight or more eyes on a Grebo war mask.
