Plank masks from the Bobo people, (also called the Bwa people) of Burkina Faso incorporate animal features and geometric designs. They are danced in initiation ceremonies welcoming teenage boys and girls into adulthood. The top of this example resembles buffalo horns, while the bottom depicts an abstract birdlike figure with human eyes and an appendage reminiscent of a beak. It measures 39 inches tall and 10 inches wide and is hand-carved of wood. - FREE US SHIPPING
